KUMSAN DÖKÜM MALZEMELERİ SANAYİ ve TİCARET A.Ş

Kumsan, in 1980, within the member of the Iron Steel Casting Industry Association which was chaired by our 8th President Mr. Turgut Özal, has been founded with ten million TL capitals by 22 industrialist, which involved our other company Adarad Döküm Ürünleri San. ve Tic. A.Ş. As a Adarad A.Ş. our participation share is 25,14%.

Institution, which foresees the reduction of the medium and long-term supply risks of the foundry sands, produced 13,000 tons of sand as a result of 1,5 years of trial production and field work, and 8,000 tons of this was sold. The 1990’s were real breakthrough and development period of the company, and the company's capacity was increased up to 180,000 tons per year.

Silica Sand is produced by Kumsan, is one of the important raw material in the automotive, heavy equipment, durable consumer goods, iron and steel casting industry. In addition to this, Silica sand is also used as a main input in the Construction Sector GRP-based pipe industry.

Besides to growth effort, to ensuring the continuity and reliability that the company accepted as the management principles, with the publicity of Ecofriendly Mining Program deserved to Istanbul Industry Chamber Environment Award in 2000 and Bogaziçi University Environment Criton Jury Award in 2001.

Kumsan, which began to launch the dry sand facility in Tuzla district of İstanbul province in 2007, with 480.000 tons of wet sand and dry sand capacity it is one of the notable raw material producing companies in the Turkish industry in 2008.

As a result of trainings and performed studies, ISO 9001: 2000 Quality Management System and ISO 14001: 2004 Environmental Management System papers were taken in 2008.
